Hi Polocrosse Family,
Your APA Board met this month and there is a LOT of good work happening behind the scenes. We wanted to give you a quick and energizing snapshot of whatβs moving forward for 2026!
π Safety First β Field Safety Lines Approved

We officially approved adding a 15-yard safety buffer behind the backline, in addition to the existing 5-yard sideline safety line.
What does this mean? Simply put: clearer field boundaries and safer spaces for spectators, horses, and players. Within this buffer, foot/hoof traffic and obstacles like water buckets, popup tents, and cars will not be allowed.
This is about protecting our community while keeping the game flowing. No new player penalties at this time β just smarter field layout standards.
π International Representation Confirmed
We formally confirmed Rahul Desai as an IPC Representative alongside our President.
This ensures the U.S. continues to have a strong voice in international discussions β especially as global rule alignment conversations are happening right now.
π§ Umpire Development & World Cup Prep
Our Chief Umpire, Daniel Johnson, shared exciting updates about IPC efforts to standardize international umpiring ahead of World Cup competition.
Weβll be identifying and developing top-quality U.S. umpires who may have opportunities to officiate at international test matches. This is a big step in strengthening our global presence.
π» Website Improvements Are LIVE!
Major shout-out to Lisa Poe, our Technology Committee Chair for leading important updates to the APA website.
Every active club now has its own dedicated page with direct contact information. This makes it easier than ever for new players to find a club and get involved.
This is just the beginning of broader improvements happening across technology, membership, and communications.
π¬ New Communications Calendar Launched

Our Communications Chair, Kylie Ferrentino, rolled out a 2026 communications schedule to keep everyone informed and organized.
Hereβs what you can expect:
- Tuesday PDP emails
- Thursday updates & reminders
- Newsletter on the 1st and 3rd Sunday
- 48-hour submission deadline for content
News and content ideas can be submitted to Kylie at communications@americanpolocrosse.org
π€ Growing the Sport
Our Membership Committee team, led by Jennifer Carpenter, continues to push outreach forward, including new exhibition opportunities at major equestrian events.
More exposure. More education. More growth!
π Rulebook & Standards of Play
Weβre being thoughtful about printing updated rulebooks to ensure alignment with ongoing IPC discussions. Once finalized, weβll get them into your hands as quickly as possible.
The Big Picture
Your Board is focused on:
β Safer play
β Clearer standards
β Stronger international alignment
β Better communication
β Easier club access
β Growing awareness of polocrosse
Weβre building infrastructure β not just reacting to issues.
Thank you for being part of this sport, this community, and this momentum.
See you on the field β and especially in Florida! βοΈ
