RECAP AND RESULTS FROM THE 2017 LONESTAR POLOCROSSE CLUB ANNUAL JON WEBER TOURNAMENT:
Well the weather in Coupland, Texas wasn’t cooperating this past weekend which definitely provided some challenges for the Lone Star organizers. Thankfully Lone Star has some very experienced and very dedicated tournament organizers who were able to scramble and make it possible for the players to still get their time in on the field this weekend regardless of the inclement weather on Sunday. So the tournament actually started on Friday afternoon and then it wrapped up on Saturday afternoon.
The tournament had around 70 players total and included A, B, C, D, E and Pee-Wee levels. Overall the weekend provided some excellent competition, pleasant weather and fun entertainment for everyone who attended. And thanks to the generosity of the Jon Weber family, we were able to watch several games under the lights that Jon’s family donated as a tribute to his memory after his passing. It is for this reason that the Lone Star Club holds the annual “Jon Weber” tournament each year – to honor him and to thank his family. We would also like to thank our amazing sponsor, Triple Crown Feeds for donating all of the ‘WikSmart’ coolers for the ‘Best Horse Awards’ sending their local rep to attend the tournament as well.
We would like to recognize the Tournament Committee of Stephanie Shuttles, Heather Le and Prissy Rumel. We are also very appreciative of the Tournament Umpire Rahul Desai and APA Chief Umpire Daniel Johnson. And finally, what would a tournament be without the presence of Chief Statistician Paul Johnson who was able to provide a summary for us all at the awards ceremony of the weekend’s top stats. (Hint: Sloan Hamlin is amazing – like we all didn’t know that already?!?????)
