playerdevPlayer Development Program

The American Polocrosse Association's Player Development Program is designed to provide programs to improve all levels of play for all members of the APA.  It consists of three separate but connected programs:

Coaching Accreditation Program
Educates, trains, and certifies APA members through a multi-level accreditation program from beginner to advanced, in order to provide safe, effective and standardized coaching.

Domestic  Development and Clinic Coordination Program
Provides administrative support for the domestic growth of polocrosse and to coordinate clinics of all levels for APA members and clubs as well as introductory clinics for non-members interested in learning more about the game.

International Tour Program
Provides a program that allows APA members the opportunity to apply, be identified, assessed, and; if selected, trained to play on APA teams representing the United Sates at international competitions.

For more information regarding these programs you may contact the Chair of Player Development listed on the Board Member page. A full PDP Manual is available as a pdf download.

TEAM USA is part of the PDP program and participants in the PDP International Tour Program are groomed for potential participation on World Cup teams.

For current Player Development Program Manual and Applications please see FORMS & DOCUMENTS listed under CLUBS & MEMBERS.

World Cup Team History

What does it take to represent the highest level of  polocrosse for your country?

A group of elite American polocrosse players are in the beginning stages of their three year long quest to the Polocrosse World Cup 2015 in South Africa.  Maturity, sacrifice, and full commitment are characteristics that are needed for the USA World Cup Squad to be successful.  There are returning members from the USA World Cup 2011 Polocrosse Team and some very promising new members.  People say, “Polocrosse is a family sport.”  For this USA Squad, this is very true, there are family members going out for the same team and several younger players the were practically born on the polocrosse field. Their parents started playing before they were born, almost twenty five years ago.  There is a really good mix of talent and the USA Squad is excited to be training hard, playing together and traveling internationally to prepare for the World Cup in 2015.

Everyone is waking up earlier to work out & ride horses and staying up later to work on their stick skills and watch polocrosse videos.  The pressure to train, travel, and play more is building as the polocrosse season starts.  Because this life commitment is all funded through sponsorship and fund raising, The USA Squad is starting to plan for fundraising opportunities and looking to partner up with companies to make this journey possible.  Everything counts and all the sacrifices, triumphs and losses along the way will be absolutely worth it when this USA Polocrosse Team walks through the goal posts for the first time to play in the Polocrosse World Cup in 2015.

We invite you to join us on our Quest for the Cup.  You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest as well as this website for more updates and opportunities.

If you would like to get involved, please email teamusa@americanpolocrosse.org

The polocrosse season is jumping into gear. The Central zone has already had several playdays- the 2nd annual Buckle Series which was the brain child of Tina Hutcherson. Basically you can attend all four playdays in the series for $100 which includes a great dinner and a shot at winning the coveted buckle! (You just need to have particpated in at least two of the playdays.)

Please come join Lone Star Polocrosse Club as we raise the Jon Weber flag this year to mark the 12th annual tournament of the Jon Weber Classic March 22- 24, 2013!  We are looking forward to making this year’s tournament more enjoyable and memorable than ever.  If you are under 18, the Grace Ann Junior Exhibition Game will be under the lights and is a highlight of the tournament.

Sponsors

Everyone involved in sports, and in particular the horse industry, knows how time consuming and expensive it is to just stay involved at a hobby level. Once you start adding in lessons, competitions, travel and more the level is raised. And to become competitive in international play, the stakes and the related expenses are even higher. The APA has worked hard to maintain its 501c3 non profit status which allows Sponsors to  see not only tax advantages, but a chance to promote themselves to a growing and exciting new sport and the folks who are passionate about it!

Please support the Sponsors who have so generously supported the APA!

Resources

The following is a list of suppliers who are not endorsed by the APA, but offer services or items that could be a resource for polocrosse enthusiasts.

Classifieds

This will be a free listing service (for members in good standing of the APA) to offer items that are for sale, rent,  lease, for free, or services offered. All ads must be submitted using the online form which is being set up and will be available in the near future. This listing will be open for everyone to see but only APA members may post to it. More information to come!!!!
